Ballet is strongly recommended as a compliment to other classes as the terminology and placement learned in ballet carries over to all other forms of dance. This class will be taught in a more relaxed atmosphere using current music and modern approach.
- A great way for gaining a foundation in both dance disciplines. Barre work focuses on alignment and terminology followed by a jazz warm-up and exercises across the floor. Class reinforces placement and floor work.
- Breakdancing is a unique urban style of the hip hop culture that incorporates acrobatic dance.
- This class teaches students original Broadway choreography from a number of popular Broadway shows. Learn the styles of famous choreographers like Bob Fosse, Susan Stroman and Jerome Robbins. This class emphasis is on telling a story through dance using music from shows like Chicago, Hairspray, Wicked and Rent. This class is perfect for students who love to perform on stage and prepares them for musical auditions.
- Hip Hop is a lifestyle and attitude that has developed both musically and physically over t he past 20+ years. Hip Hop is not only a fun and athletic form of exercise but it has earned respect as an influential form of dance. The hip hop student will learn techniques such as body isolations, pop-lock movement, and how to execute diverse styles and attitude.
- Jazz dance is an American dance form, that evolves and changes with the latest popular styles. Students work on placement & technique while learning modern & contemporary jazz styles. Classes consist of warm-ups, floor progressions, and center combinations. Ballet is strongly recommended to be taken as a pre-requisite or in conjunction with all Jazz classes.
- combines the technique of jazz dance along with other current popular dance styles. It is influenced by pop music, rap, hip hop, and funk. Our instructors bring their own creativity and energy to the mix. This type of dance is seen in pop videos and television commercial shows.
- Highly recommend taking Ballet in conjunction with this class. This expressive form of dance blends ballet, jazz, and modern. Dramatic content and emotional expression make this a popular class.
- Students will learn the skills needed to be a part of a school pom squad. Class focuses on the lines of the body and working in complete unison with other dancers. The class will drill kicks, leaps, turns, and tricks as well as focus on flexibility and pom choreography.
- This is an extremely popular and energetic dance form. These classes combine aspects of both Poms and Hip Hop and will prepare you to “bring it on” and have the proper confidence and energy to perform!

Ballet Tech is strongly recommended as a compliment to other classes as the terminology and placement learned in ballet carries over to all forms of dance.
- this class is geared specifically for the grace, poise, and alignment needed for figure skaters. It teaches proper placement, carriage, grace, and poise. Barre exercises develop strength and flexibility, while center work allows the student to practice classic dance principles. Ballet is strongly recommended as a compliment to other classes as the terminology and placement learned in ballet carries over to greatly improve skating performance.
- this class is a technique only class with no choreography being taught. All elements of hip hop dance including performance, execution of movements, style, precision, and tricks will be drilled and perfected. This class is a great addition to any Hip Hop class and also may be a prerequisite for higher level Hip Hop classes.

Restores muscle balance, opens tight joints, and ensures structural integration. A must for dancers looking to keep their “dance” instrument in fine tune; ideal for anyone interested in good posture, long muscles, and proper body alignment.
- this class is a great addition to any ballet or jazz class. T & P is a technique only class with no choreography being taught. Across the floor combinations, jumps, leaps, and many different types of turns will be drilled and perfected.

All Pre-School classes are based on creative movement so that your child’s introduction to dance is cheerful and fun. Children learn proper studio etiquette and behavior, while never losing sight of the joy and fun of dancing. brings. Classes are limited in size, however, a waiting list is available for any lass currently filled.
- A combination of dance, theater, and craft projects makes this a well-rounded introduction to various aspects of the arts. Classes will include learning the basics of ballet and jazz, dress-up and role playing to help develop communication skills, and a fun craft project meant to stimulate the use of visual arts.
- Explore both the creative and physical dimensions of dance while gaining awareness of music, rhythm, and movement. Classes are designed to develop strength, coordination, and creative thinking. A great start to build self-confidence, musicality, and large motor skills.
- A combination of pre-ballet and pre-jazz taught to fun Broadway style music teaching creative movement and musical skills.Props such as scarves, hats, costumes, and musical instruments are used to develop basic rhythm and coordination. Independent thinking, gross motor skills, and creative expression are the focus in this class. (Ballet shoes required.)
- An introduction to jazz and hip hop. Props and current music are used to create an upbeat and energetic atmosphere. Gross motor skills and flexibility are improved in this dance and exercise class. (Jazz shoes required.)
- This high-energy, non-stop movement class is a great opportunity for kids to learn the basics of movement skills. Great enhancement for boys’ programs. Agility, speed and improving reaction time are addressed in this class.
- An introduction to hip hop, jazz, and creative movement. Jumps, walks, and basic turns are some of the steps that will be introduced taught to fun, age-appropriate music Basic technique and terminology is introduced to build a foundation for future learning. Children build motor skills (Ballet and jazz shoes required.)

- This class emphasizes structure, basic coordination and how to enjoy the fun of moving and exploring their space. The focus is on simple dance routines and incorporating the use of dance games. A great beginning to build socialization skills and self-confidence.
- A great first chance to perform on stage in Beauty and the Beast or other plays. Children attend weekly rehearsals to learn songs, dances and scenes. The class includes acting, games, singing and dancing. Each child receives a part and a practice DC. Classes taught by experienced staff from The Lake Forest Theater Company. No auditions required.

- This is not your daughter’s ballet class! This class is great for adults who want to learn the basics of ballet. Barre work develops strength and flexibility. Improves balance and lengthens muscles to gain a lean look. Emphasis is placed on good alignment and developing a strong core base of support. Dress in sweats and a t-shirt - no tutu required and no experience needed
- An amazing hour of dance that will leave you toned and sexy. Not only is it a great workout, you learn moves to impress that lucky someone. No poles … and the only thing you will take off is pounds! Dress in comfortable clothing (sweats and tank tops) and gym or dance shoes.

Please remember, registration cannot be taken without payment in full. No refunds will be given once the session has begun. There are no refunds given for cancelled or missed classes. Make up classes are allowed for any class missed due to scheduled studio closings, inclement weather, illness, or family/school functions. THIS POLICY WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO.
Placement and Levels (students must turn age of class requirement within the dates of the session)
If you are a returning student please check your evaluation form given out at the end of spring session. To ensure the best development as a dancer, you will only be allowed to enroll in your required/ recommended level. If you are a beginner with no previous experience or a student with dance experience but looking to try a new dance form, enroll in a “FUN”damental class that is age appropriate. Soul 2 Sole Dance, Inc. staff will place new students who have had previous study at other dance schools into the appropriate level. Please call the office before registering so that we may assist in your correct placement.
Level 1 - designed for FUN and mastery of the fundamentals in a specific dance discipline in which you are registering.
Level 2 - By director/teacher approval only. Up to 4 years previous experience in the specific discipline in which you are registering.
Level 3 - By director/teacher approval only. Up to 6 years previous experience in the specific discipline in which you are registering Level 3 and above students must be registered in a minimum of two technique classes per week.
Level 4 - By director/teacher approval only. Up to 6 years previous experience in the specific discipline in which you are registering.
Technique Only Classes - These classes are designed to improve technical ability and are NON-recital classes. Please follow age and level requirements when registering for these classes. (Ballet Technique, Turns and Progressions, Stretch and Strengthen, Hip Hop Progressions).
Dance Company Class - Placement by week-long June audition only.
There are size limits for each class depending on the age of the students, the size of the studio, and the type of class. These limits are strictly
enforced to ensure the quality of your dance education. A waiting list will be started for any class that has reached its capacity. Soul 2 Sole Dance, Inc. reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. Class size must be at least five students. If a class is cancelled due to
insufficient enrollment and an alternative class cannot be found, a full refund will be issued.
Soul 2 Sole Dance, Inc. reserves the right to substitute qualified staff, whenever necessary, to ensure the success of a class. Refunds are not granted for staffing changes.
ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK INCLUDING WATER will be allowed inside any of the dance rooms. This rule pertains to both students and parents. No gum chewing. Snacks and drinks may be purchased from our vending machines but are allowed in designated areas only.
Students are expected to attend class and arrive on time. Progress in class is dependent on regular and consistent attendance and participation. Because of the disruption to class and the importance of the initial warm-up exercises, students entering class more than 5 minutes late may be asked to observe rather than participate in class. Make up classes are available for any class missed due to scheduled studio closings, illness, or family/school functions. You may participate in any similar class during the current term that is not at capacity enrollment. Please notify the appropriate studio that you need to schedule a make up class.
To discuss your child’s progress, or to answer any questions you may have, we recommend you make an appointment with their teacher. Parents should feel free to call either studio and request a return call or an appointment if their child loses interest in dance, or seems unhappy with the class. Most times a change in teacher or subject can make dance new and exciting again. If you need to speak with the Artistic Director, Jenny Zuleger, regarding your class placement or teacher, please call the BG studio to schedule an appointment. All questions regarding accounts or business concerns are handled exclusively by the studios - not your teacher. We welcome your calls regarding concerns for your child’s dance experience.
The Studio Information and Policies Listed Above Will Be Strictly Enforced
APPROPRIATE DANCE ATTIRE WILL BE SOLD AT THE NEW BUFFALO GROVE STUDIO. Soul 2 Sole Dance, Inc.’s dress code is designed for uniformity and efficiency. Instructors need to be able to see and adjust the lines of the body. Students must be prepared for each class with the correct dancewear and hair accessories. Anyone not wearing the appropriate attire will be unable to participate in class, but may sit and observe class. No street shoes that have been worn outside will be allowed in any dance room. This rule pertains to both students and parents.

| Any color or style of dance wear or moveable clothing. No street clothes or shoes may be worn. Ballet skirts, shorts, or pants are allowed, but no formal costumes. Hair must be off face. Ballet, jazz, hip hop, or tap shoes are required. |

| Solid black leotard and pink tights must be worn to every class. Hair must be worn in a bun. No tee shirts, cover-ups, skirts, or sweats may be worn. No jewelry, bracelets, rings, watches, or distracting hair accessories. Pink ballet shoes must be worn to every class. |

| JAZZ/LYRICAL/POMS |
| Form fitting clothing must be worn to every class. Tank tops, half tops, leggings, jazz pants/shorts in any color are acceptable. No tee-shirts, sweats, or baggy clothing may be worn. Hair must be worn off of face in a ponytail. No jewelry, bracelets, rings, or watches. Jazz shoes must be worn to every class. |

| Moveable clothing must be worn to every class. Students may express their individual style and may wear less form-fitting clothing T-shirts, sweats, and hats are acceptable. No jeans, skirts, or shorts. Hair must be secured away from face. No jewelry. Jazz shoes or Hip-hop sneakers must be worn to every Hip Hop class. Tap shoes must be worn to every Tap class. |

You will receive a phone call if the studio is closing due to inclement weather. In addition, the phone message at both studios will be updated to reflect whether or not the studio will be closed. Therefore, you can call the studio 30 minutes prior to your class start time to double-check whether classes are running or not.
There will be no classes rescheduled for classes missed due to inclement weather and there will be no refunds for these classes. However, you are encouraged to take any other class at any time as a makeup for missed classes.
