As a solo performer Monty has choreographed and danced for several R and B artists from Chicago. The list includes Ayona, Taejah and J-Soul. He opened up for Ciara at EIU on February 11th, 2005. In the spring of 2007 he signed with Clear/lily’s talent agency. Monty has also had the opportunity to perform live at the Chris Brown Dance Down 2007. He has choreographed two full length stage productions that he is hoping to premiere in 2008. As a performer with Stick and Move Monty has toured the nation performing with artist such as Chicago natives, Common, Kanye West, and Risque. His company was one of many headlining acts for the Finding Our Folk tour, a Katrina Relief concert that focused on helping everyone affected by the hurricane find resources needed to get them back on their feet. They travel to schools and Universities performing and spreading their positive message of H.I.P.H.O.P.
Stick and Move is also the official breaking crew of the Chicago Bulls, and The Chicago Sky. They perform annually with the African Festival of Arts, and the Hip Hop Detoxx. The company was featured in Chicago artist The Pope music video for his single “Ya Ya”. They recently finished performing in Chicago as well as the Midwest’s biggest Dance festival, Dance Chicago. With a feature every weekend from Nov. 2nd until Dec 2nd, 2007, Monty along with Stick and Move was definitely a highlight of the show. As of 2006 they have been apart of “The Stars of Dance Chicago”, the best of the best performers from the festival. You can always catch them doing what they have been known to do best, street performing at the Taste of Chicago every summer.
When he is not dancing Monty likes to enjoy his other hobbies such as producing, writing and playing music. Writing poetry, drawing and fashion design are also included on that list. His fashion line, Hip Hop University Apparel, inspired by elements of his life and culture, will be featured at the Soul 2 Sole boutique.
